About

Three bodies of work, one continuous line.

Practice

Yasi Azad paints in Orange County, California. Her work moves between three bodies: abstract florals and coastal studies in acrylic and oil, minimal figure drawings built from a single continuous line, and script pieces that give one word the whole canvas.

The line drawings came out of teaching. Demonstrating contour drawing to a room of students meant making the same gesture hundreds of times, and the discipline of not lifting the pen turned into its own series.

She teaches at her studio at The Shops at Mission Viejo, where she runs classes for children, teens and adults.
